# Deleting your Kinstories account

Revision of October 18, 2026

Kinstories is a service for family and loved ones (developer: Artemijs Semjaņņikovs, Latvia). You can delete your account at any time: in the app for iPhone, iPad or Android, on the website or by email. It's free, and it can't be undone.

## In the app or on the website

- Open the Kinstories app or [app.kinstories.app](https://app.kinstories.app) and sign in.

- Open “My settings” (the gear icon at the top) → the “Account” tab → “My data” → “Delete account”.

- Type the word “delete” and tap “Delete forever”. If you're asked to confirm it's you, enter the code from the email. The account is deleted right away.

## If you can't access the app

Write to info@kinstories.app from the email address your account uses, with the subject “Delete account”. We'll make sure it's really you and delete the account within a month — usually much sooner.

## Before deleting

- If you own a circle that has other members, transfer ownership to one of them (in “Circle settings”). Without this the account can't be deleted: the others still need the circle.

- If you want to keep your data, download it: “My settings → Account → My data → Download my data”.

## What is deleted right away

- The account: name, email, sign-in methods (Telegram, passkeys), device sign-ins, notification settings and channels, the Inbox.

- Circles where you are the only member — entirely, with all people, dates and stories.

- Your newsletter answers and reads, your invitations (they stop working), access to other people's private stories.

- Your entries in the server request log.

## What remains

If information about you yourself remains in a shared circle and you want it removed, write to info@kinstories.app — we'll help. More about data — in the [privacy policy](https://kinstories.app/privacy/).

- In shared circles — the people, dates and stories you added: they are the circle's shared data. They remain without an author; your account is unlinked from them.

- Entries in the change feed of shared circles — without your name, for up to a year.

- Database backups — for up to 24 months. They are encrypted, stored in the EU and deleted automatically; we restore the database from a backup only after a failure, never to bring back a deleted account.
